At Macado’s on Broad Street, an intoxicated man created a disturbance by activating and flashing a Taser. While being escorted out of the restaurant, the suspect became combative and pepper sprayed an employee. Police arrived to find a pair of off-duty Sullivan County deputies detaining him on the sidewalk. He was jailed for disorderly conduct, assault and public intoxication.
— The owner of a Fort Henry Drive salon reported theft by an employee. Security footage revealed the woman taking money from clients, pocketing the cash and erasing their appointments from the scheduling book. She was suspected of having taken $2,000, but when questioned, the suspect said it was only $500. She was arrested and charged with embezzlement.
— A woman brought her son, age 41, to Indian Path Medical Center with severe facial injuries. He had reportedly walked from Westside Inn to Wholesale Tobacco on West Sullivan Street, where someone allegedly “sucker punched” him in the parking lot. He suffered a laceration all the way through his cheek and lost five teeth. Medical treatment prevented him from immediately speaking with police.
— During an argument between a pair of men at Westside Inn, one was struck in the head with a table leg. After police arrived and spoke with witnesses, the attacker was arrested for assault.
— Shortly after noon, police were alerted to a man on Center Street who was “getting on to vehicles and refusing to get off.” Officers quickly located and detained the suspect, then spoke with the complainants. One motorist said he had jumped on their SUV and rode for a block, while another said he had hopped up and down on their hood, creating a dent. The third said the man was running in traffic and pointing at vehicles, leading motorists to fear he had a gun. When questioned, the suspect claimed he was fleeing from men who were going to shoot him. No such individuals were spotted by anyone else. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and vandalism.
