HENDERSONVILLE – One man died when a bass boat and a personal watercraft crashed on Old Hickory Lake on Monday afternoon.

According to Barry Cross with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, the agency was alerted to a boat accident on Old Hickory Lake near the area of Bluegrass Marina near Hendersonville at about 4:30 p.m.

A bass boat driven by Teryl Crowder, 63, of Mt. Juliet, and a personal watercraft operated by Christopher Lindroth, 58, of Hendersonville, approached each other when both operators tried to avoid each other and crashed.

Lindroth, who wore a lifejacket, sustained critical injuries and was thrown into the water.

Crowder managed to pull Lindroth into his boat and take him to Bluegrass Marina where emergency medical crews attempted lifesaving measures. Lindroth was taken to Hendersonville Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Alcohol did not appear to be a contributing factor in the accident. TWRA officers impounded both vessels, and the investigation remained ongoing.
