BLUFF CITY — Sullivan East looked inward to find a replacement for John Dyer.

Dillon Faver was named head coach of the boys basketball team on Friday. He has been an assistant with the program since 2012, helping the Patriots win two region championships and numerous conference titles. In 2017, he helped guide the program to its first appearance in the state tournament.

Faver played at Sullivan East and later graduated from King.

East Principal Andy Hare said the school is excited about handing the reins to Faver.

“Dillon Faver will help lead Sullivan East into its next great chapter in Patriot basketball history,” Hare said. “He will continue to build on the firm foundation that Coach Dyer established and will help forge our program’s young men into great basketball players, great teammates and great members of our community.”

Faver will officially take over at the end of the school year.

The Patriots have undergone quite a transformation in athletics in recent weeks. Mike Locke resigned as head football coach to take over as the school’s athletic director, which opened up when Dyer announced his retirement. Locke was replaced in football by J.C. Simmons.
